SEN ‘Me in the World’ Unit A 5 week unit including planning and differentiated Widgit (Communicate in Print) resources. Work is differentiated for a wide range of children to access - I am currently teaching children working at mainstream Y1 - Y5. Unit of work includes: To recognise what I am good and bad at and to name different jobs and careers. To list the jobs that appeal to them. To research the path to certain jobs. To understand the steps to researching a job. To match personal strengths to certain careers. Each lesson starts with a practical task and then a written task which can be completed with an adult, as a group or independently depending on the needs within your class.

SEN ‘Me in the World’ Unit - Refugees and Asylum Seekers A 6 week unit including planning and differentiated Widgit (Communicate in Print) resources. Work is differentiated for a wide range of children to access - I am currently teaching children working at mainstream Y1 - Y5. Unit of work includes: To investigate and know the terms ‘migration’ and ‘immigration’. To investigate and know the terms ‘refugee’ and ‘asylum seekers’. To explore the reasons behind becoming an asylum seeker or refugee. To investigate and know the terms ‘racism’ and ‘extremism’. To demonstrate the different advantages to community diversity. To explore and identify different ways I can show respect and tolerance towards different cultures. Each lesson starts with a practical/verbal task and then a written task which can be completed with an adult, as a group or independently depending on the needs within your class.
